This qualification has been developed for those who work in areas such as manufacturing, cleaning, healthcare, transport and office environments, who may come into contact with hazardous substances. To complete this qualification learners should expect to undertake approximately 1 day of learning.
During this course the learners will be taught the roles of employees and employers in relation to hazardous substances at work and how an employer can communicate information relating to hazardous substances to the workforce.
They will gain an understanding of the safety signs used on hazardous substances and the effects of exposure to hazardous substances including ways in which hazardous substances can enter the body. They will learn the purpose of risk assessments and how these can help reduce accidents and ill health at work along with the procedures used when dealing with any incident involving hazardous substances.
